Last Lap is a small time attack racing game built in Unreal Engine 5, focused on pressure driven gameplay and responsive driving feel.
The core challenge is simple: complete each lap before the timer hits zero. With every successful lap, the available time decreases, forcing cleaner driving, better cornering, and quicker decision making. Failing to beat the timer results in an immediate game over or “TOO SLOW”.
Key Features:
• Drivable vehicle with tuned handling and suspension
• Time attack lap system with escalating difficulty
• Countdown timer that resets on lap completion and decreases each lap
• Clear failure state with game over UI and retry flow
• Minimalist coastal environment designed to keep focus on the track and gameplay
What I Focused On:
• Designing a complete, replayable gameplay loop
• Iterating on vehicle feel and responsiveness
• Clear UI feedback for laps, time pressure, and failure
• Finishing and polishing a small scope project rather than expanding scope
This project was built entirely in Blueprint and serves as a focused gameplay prototype demonstrating iteration, scope control, and mechanic driven design.
